Teaching Activism: Women’s Studies in the 21st Century

The classroom, with all its limitations, remains a location of possibility.  In that field of possibility we have the opportunity to labor for freedom, to demand of ourselves and our comrades, an openness of mind and heart that allows us to face reality even as we collectively imagine ways to move beyond boundaries, to transgress.  This is education as the practice of freedom.    –bell hooks, Teaching to Transgress, 1999, p. 207

The conference is sponsored and underwritten by UMass Dartmouth’s College of Arts and Sciences, the Women’s Studies Program, and the Division of Professional and Continuing Education.

Thank you in advance for submitting your registration form and your registration fee by March 31st. Please also share the form with colleagues and encourage their attendance. A conference schedule will be available by March 15th online and an email notice will go out when it is available. We also have conference rates at local hotels available.

The NEWSA conference has not been held in two years. It’s great to be renewing the energy in the region. We hope you join us.
